Prolonged fasting diminishes thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) secretion by reducing burst amplitude and by blunting the nocturnal increase. It is recognized that TSH plays a role in maintaining bone health. If following a restrictive diet results in the suppression of the nocturnal rise in TSH and diminished burst of the hormone, it may be detrimental to bone health.

Low-carb high-fat diet (LCHF) dangerously resembles the “high-fat diet” that induces disease and chronic inflammation in mice.
Low-carb high-fat diet (LCHF) dangerously resembles the “high-fat diet” that induces disease and chronic inflammation in mice (as % of calories): 20% from protein (=99% casein), 20% from carbs (=maltodextrin, some sucrose), 60% from fat (=90% lard), and some fiber, vitamins, minerals. The dangerous resemblance between the “unhealthy” high-fat diet for laboratory rodents and “LCHF” is something to keep in mind.
Postprandial triglycerides on low-carb and high-carb diets.
Non-fasting triglycerides have been proposed as a predictor of cardiovascular risk. In low-carb athletes and sedentary low-carbers, postprandial triglycerides rise to the same levels as those associated with higher cardiovascular risk in the general populattion. It is, however, not clear if higher postprandial triglycerides increase cardiovascular risk in people on low-carb diets.
Objective symptoms of low testosterone on carnivore, ketogenic, low carb, or other restrictive diets.
Delayed ejaculation (DE) is one of the objective symptoms of hypogonadism.
Debunking Nina Teicholz: The dietary guidelines tell us to eat low carb (100g/d of carbs). Nina has not read them.
What do the guidelines say in reality?
Well, it depends on what guidelines we choose. Let us look at the Dietary reference intakes for energy, carbohydrate, fiber, fat, fatty acids, cholesterol, protein, and amino acids, established by the Institute of Medicine, a part of the National Academy of Sciences in the US.
