The last update and review: August 18, 2023.

A short summary.

A discussion about sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) observed on different diets. Several comments about Internet health personalities and their biomarkers. An invitation to participate in our Working Group on SHBG.

Internet health personality Kurt and his record SHBG level.

Kurt, who you can see on one of the pictures above, is a health enthusiast and an Internet personality. Kurt experiments with different diets, including carnivore diet, and different “restrictions”. Kurt shares (publishes) his laboratory tests on his website and in his videos.

One of the interesting details in Kurt’s biomarkers is his high sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG). We can see that at one point, Kurt’s SHBG reached 104nmol/L. This value is quite high.

Is having such a high level of SHBG good?

A discussion about SHBG levels observed on different diets and life-style regiments.

A discussion about SHBG levels on different diets would be interesting. Health enthusiasts experiment with different protocols and create unique metabolic and hormonal profiles. This offers an opportunity to learn more about human physiology.

“The New Neander’s Medical SHBG Challenge”.

We are launching a “Challenge”: we want to discover the highest and the lowest levels of SHBG that people achieve through diet and other interventions. It is also interesting to learn the levels of SHBG that are typical for different popular diets and life-style interventions.

What was the highest level of SHBG on your blood tests and what was your diet and exercise regiment at the time?

What was the lowest level of SHBG that you could ever achieve?`

What is the typical level of SHBG on your ideal diet and exercise (or just physical activity) regiment?

We invite medical practitioners, researchers and health enthusiasts to join our Working Group on SHBG. Share your experience, your ideas, your laboratory test results with us. Together, we may advance to a better understanding of SHBG in different contexts.

Participate in our Challenge on SHBG. Let us know what values of SHBG you observed during your own journey. Could anyone beat Kurt with a higher SHBG?

We add to this post several screenshots that capture a popular health educator Ted Naiman, MD, and his different ideas. Ted generates a lot of recommendations and writes books. How his own biomarkers fluctuate on his different regiments is not clear. Notably, his total testosterone and SHBG would be informative.
