Introduction.
From another post on this website:
The IHU Marseille, France, is headed by Didier Raoult, a prominent infectious diseases specialist. The IHU Marseille, France, is a pole of excellence in infectious disease medicine and research. And it is so far the best hospital in the treatment of COVID-19 in the countries with European population.
To find out if hydroxychloroquine plus azithromycin (HCQ+AZ), the preferred treatment at the IHU hospital in Marseille, France, is effective, we need to calculate the in-hospital mortality in patients who did receive HCQ+AZ and in patients who didn’t.
A test: Can we calculate the in-hospital mortality in patients who did not receive HCQ+AZ?
1.
Below, there is a table from the study by Lagier et al., 2020 (1) that included all patients treated at the IHU hospital in Marseille, France. Can we calculate in-hospital mortality using the data from this table? If so, calculate and explain how.
2.
Is HCQ+AZ effective as a treatment for COVID-19?
How to use this test: If a bureaucrat or a medical doctor can not answer this test intelligently, it is probable that the tested person lost the ability to understand and analyze specialized information.
